After university if was so tired of books, I only read articles for a long time. Books became a luxury in the summer time. As you say there is a huge amount of information and I’m constantly just snatching snippets unless I’m trying to specialise in something. The only part where I deviate with you is the relationship to authors — in books since it’s a well researched and technical producy, I spot where I disagree with method and content easily. In an article, I think you need way more trust because these are snippets. You need to trust the writer summarised well, using a methodology or ideology you agree with. Otherwise it can be riddled with bias and misinformation. I therefore have more of a relationship with writers for articles than books.
